Coal and India best friends? Or Foes...

 Hello,

Welcome to my blog, my name is LJ of course. In this unit, we worked on looking at a country's fossil fuel output and input, so many countries use so much fossil fuels it's crazy!

We had to make a slideshow about a country of choice and a fossil fuel, I chose India and the fossil fuel and I chose Coal.

India had a huge coal shortage in December of 2021. It was detrimental

More than half of the country's 135 coal-fired power plants are running on fumes - as coal stocks run critically low.

In a country where 70% of the electricity is generated using coal, this is a major cause for concern as it threatens to derail India's pandemic economic recovery.

India is a very coal dependent country, with the sudden sharp and steep decline of coal, the country is look at an all out full scale blackout.
My fuel is Coal
This coal is primarily used to generate electricity at 135 coal-based power plants.
This fuel is nonrenewable because it takes millions of years to form.
in the Raniganj Coalfield along the Western bank of Damodar River in India.
Coal is the cheapest of all fossil fuels
Coal can be used with renewables to reduce emissions
Coal offers a rather low capital investment
Now there are manyyyy more pros than cons but lets dig into some of those cons
Coal power can create high levels of radiation
Even clean coal still has high level of methane
Coal emissions are linked to health concerns

In India, coal consumption increased year-on-year, while in the United States, coal consumption decreased year-by-year I think the reason for the decline in US coal consumption is the low international coal demand and the low coal demand in the US power sector. I think India`s coal consumption will continue to increase due to a combination of supply factors and a decline in coal imports. I think the same can be said for India as the cost continues to rise due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, I think coal will continue to decline due to low demand for coal in the United States.
